Throughout the month of December, we are asking our community to turn their compassion into action by making a gift to REACH. We need financial support, supplies, volunteers, and for you to share this campaign with your friends. By doing this, you will make sure families are housed, children are safe, and no one has to go hungry.
Generosity STORIES
An Extraordinary Graduation Gift
This spring, as a local student, was thinking about her high school graduation and the new chapter in her life that it would mark, she approached the Center Of Hope with an inspiring and unbelievably generous idea.
This idea was rooted in her understanding that families who are homeless have dreams and goals for the future just like her, and that none of us go in the direction of our dreams alone. We need a community to help and support us, to keep us motivated and lend us strength when the going gets hard.
Based on this knowledge and an appreciation of how hard it can be for homeless families to find the support and resources they need, this student decided she wanted to show up for our families in a pretty phenomenal way.
So she told all those she invited to her graduation party and all those who wanted to give her a little money to help her along as she moved into her new chapter, that she wanted to honor their love, support and investment in her by extending their generosity to others who needed it. She would take the money they gave her and donate it in their honor to the Center of Hope. She would, in that act, do what she planned to do as a graduate: reach out from the love that her community has given her to make the world better for others.
We were overwhelmed when this student showed up at the Center of Hope with her graduation cards and a donation for our families. It is this type of generosity that keeps our families going and makes the staff and volunteers at REACH want to work even harder to honor the gifts of our clients, of this student, and of so many others. Thank you!!
