We Welcome Our New Board Members!
Chris is a City of Renton native and a graduate of Liberty High School and Seattle Pacific University (SPU). He was awarded his degree in Theology and Music from SPU. He was a pastor of Bethany Community Church in Greenlake for 10 years and then helped launch a successful mobile phone company in the private sector.
Today, He is Director of Church Development for the Union Gospel Mission of Seattle, where he has spent the last 4 years working with REACH and other local church networks. Chris is a member of Radiant Church of Renton. He has been married for 12 years and is a father of 4 children.
Karen Wimberly has been a resident of the City of Renton for a long time. She retired from Boeing as a senior finance manager after 27 years. She has bachelor’s degrees in special education and accounting and will be serving as our board secretary.
She has experience holding offices on non-profit and church governing boards. She volunteers as a narrator of books for the blind through Tape Ministry NW for the past 7 years. For the past 1 ½ years, she and her husband have been the 11th Legislative District Coordinators for the Faith Action Network (FAN) and have led a group of advocates for social justice as they met with their legislators.
For the last 8 months, she and her husband have volunteered at REACH’s Warm-Up Breakfast once a week and have obtained a commitment from a local Starbucks to provide leftover pastries. She recently added a second pick up per week from the same Starbucks to take to the Friday Community Dinner where she and her husband volunteer and serve the meal.
Dianne Johnson was commissioned as an Associate in Ministry by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in 2004. While serving as the Outreach and Discipleship Minister at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, she had an opportunity to lead several mission trips to Tanzania.
The experience of learning from those who serve the Church in Tanzania has shaped how she approaches interactions between congregations and the surrounding community. Dianne encourages people to talk and listen to one another. Ideas for change and the steps to implement that change comes from everyone involved through this process. She will be serving as a general 'member at large' of REACH's board.
Dianne has served on the NW Washington Synod Council and has organized several mission-focused events to bring people with shared passion together to share ideas. She is the chair for the Synod’s Evangelical Outreach Team. In 2014, Dianne began working part-time for Group Health’s Research Institute as a patient partner in a research study. She hopes her work will bring the patient voice to the varied aspects of that study.
